Q: If I outsource some of my back office functions with MXCONN, doesn't my firm lose some of its control over those functions?
A: There is no loss of control. Your offshore operations will mirror your current operations. Offshore staff members are managed in much the same way as current members who might be located in another state or are home-based. Telephone access does not require an international call and the offshore staff work when you want them to.
Q: Aren't there a lot of security issues that I'd have to deal with if I outsourced some back office functions?
A: MXCONN provides three layers of security: Physical, Data, and Transmission. Each level of security conforms to codes established by US businesses as a standard accepted practice for protecting confidentiality of products and customers plus all financial and proprietary data files. MXCONN will be connected to your systems via a communications line just as your current staff is connected. It is just a somewhat longer line. All your data and application systems stay on your
Q: I'm concerned about the loss of expertise I'd experience if I outsourced our back office functions. Isn't that an issue I should be concerned with?
A: Offshore staff are trained to your standards and are certified by you. You know exactly what the offshore staff knows. The offshore staff can be trained and fully certified before an announcement is made to your in-house staff. This eliminates the risk of losing valuable staff (expertise) before redundancy can be created. Next, if there is institutional knowledge that can only be acquired over years, then you can use the savings that offshore BPO creates and reinvest it into those high value members of your staff. This allows you to keep those high value members, and have them in roles that are of greater value to the organization. Lastly, you can utilize a blended solution so that all of the expertise does not reside in one place, but is shared between MXCONN and your organization.
Q: If I start outsourcing some of our back office functions, doesn't that eventually make my job redundant, leaving me without a job?
A: No. The department head is still required to oversee and manage the process. The department head is still responsible to the company for the performance of the function, and is required to work with the outsourcing partner. The department head is also critical to the business as a company member who is an expert in the area and retains knowledge within the company. After outsourcing the functions of the department, the only real difference in the manager’s responsibilities is that he doesn’t have to manage the individual people on a day-to-day basis. He can concentrate more on the "what" without the distraction of the "who" and "how."
Q: Isn't there a loss of quality when I begin using overseas workers?
A: Oftentimes, your offshore staff are better educated and motivated than domestic staff. MXCONN will mirror your operations and processes and perform to the same metrics that you currently do. MXCONN utilizes TQM processes, and your offshore staff does not go operational until you have certified that they can perform at the same level (or better) as your existing staff. In addition, because we are confident in our abilities, we welcome gain sharing and penalty components to our contracts.
Q: Isn't it true that the overseas workers won't have the level of commitment or loyalty to my company that my domestic workers have?
A: MXCONN is the premiere Employer in Pakistan. We have our choice of the best-educated associates and provide a very attractive salary and compensation package to our employees. Employee turnover is almost non-existent and word has spread throughout the community of the benefits of working for MXCONN.
Q: Will outsourcing result in a loss of business?
A: What happens if your BPO partner fails to perform? - Outsourcing is not a new concept. Many large, medium and small companies have been taking advantage of domestic outsourcing for years. It is a proven concept. In today’s competitive marketplace, doing nothing is not a viable option. Ultimately, businesses that choose to not address the issue of outsourcing will lose clients to those that have addressed it. In order to ensure outsourcing success, it is imperative that an outsourcing vendor with a track record of success is selected. Other ways to ensure BPO success include: • Write a contract wherein the degree of Service Level guarantees your business needs. • Look before you leap. Do a 3 to 6 month proof of concept before you fully commit. • Operate under a shared model for as long of a time as necessary.
Q: Isn't offshore outsourcing un-American?
A: Contrary to what most believe outsourcing actually benefits America. For each dollar spent offshore, $1.12 to $1.14 winds up in the American economy. See "Everyone’s a winner" below. As the Arizona Republic pointed out in February, 2004, outsourcing of services is just another form of trade, and trade benefits all countries involved. The outsourcing of services increases the competitiveness of American companies, the productivity of American workers and the number of high-paying jobs in the United States. Studies show the outsourcing of manufactured goods had this effect, and there is every reason to expect that the outsourcing of services will as well.
Q: If I need to go to the overseas location of our workers, will I need to be concerned about my personal safety?
A: The Pakistani cities that MXCONN currently has operations in, Islamabad and Lahore, are easier for someone from the U.S. to visit than any of the major cities in India. The masses of people and the terrible poverty that is so prevalent in India is not nearly as visible in Pakistan. The Pakistani people you meet, not only in the office but also in the restaurants, shops, or on the street, are very open and friendly. The majority of the people want to see an improved quality of life in Pakistan and understand that joining the global economic community is a means to that end. Our visitors are met at planeside and escorted through the airport and to the hotel. The hotel is a wonderful, fully modern, 5 star hotel located right next to our facility. You can view our Video to get a better feel for the area, but we would love to host a visit to our facility because nothing will replace seeing it for yourself.
Q: If my firm begins outsourcing some back office functi do I ensure that I retain my remaining staff?
A: The remaining staff should be informed that they have been kept because they are the best and will be the group that helps to make significant change within the organization. They will have the luxury of having more help and in the long-term, will not be over worked and burned out. In fact they will get to do more strategic activities with more visibility to the executives. There are ways to engage the remaining staff with the offshore staff that builds a teaming environment and distributes the workload so everyone has more accountability. |
